How did you choose the name for your business? Mindfulness is a huge part of Yoga. It’s the mental and spiritual practice that has the most impact on our physical on the mat practice. I felt Mindful Yogi Momma was fitting.
How do you balance having kids & running a business? Ahaha there is absolutely no such thing as balance in my opinion. I look at it as more of hot plates. Whichever plate is the hottest at any given moment is the one I focus on. I try to do a lot of the tedious business stuff during naps or bed time. But again it doesn’t always work that way. I do the best I can and I’m content with that.
What has been most challenging about starting your own business? Learning the ins and outs of it all. Figuring out my true vision for my business and really getting laser focus. 2019 is the year I'm going to be laser focused and align even deeper with my vision.
What have you found most supportive when starting your business? The community. Truly I have met some amazing people that offer advice and knowledge! As well as meeting some lovely new Momma's along the way!
What sets your business apart from those alike? I truly believe we are better together. And I never want any Momma to feel like she is not welcomed. I really believe in inclusivity. @Camara.Crew Stamp of Approval:
I had the pleasure of attending my very first Yoga class ever with Meaghan! I have to admit I was quite nervous to go to the class. My fear was that all the other momma's would be experts and me never stepping foot on a mat before would be far behind. Boy was I wrong! Not only was Meaghan extremely welcoming, she also was able to tailor her class to the varying abilities of each person. At no time did I feel that I was judged or not able to keep up. Even with it being my first time doing yoga, and having to pay close attention to learning the different poses by the end of the class I felt rested and rejuvenated. Exactly what I needed! For the first class just Mason and I attended. It was great, he laid on my mat and was great throughout the whole class. A few times I had to stop to tend to him but did not feel like I was interrupting others in the class because they also had their children with them. The second class I attended I brought both Lily and Mason. Lily had a blast playing with the other children and it was a great distraction for her while I was able to focus on the yoga session. I even caught Lily trying to copy some of the poses it was so cute.
If any of your Momma's fear that yoga is too hard or not for you. I highly recommend stepping outside of your comfort zone and giving it a try. I underestimated how hard it was but I was excited to try something new and challenging. I felt so good afterwards even though it was not easy. I also couldn't believe how relaxed I felt even though both my kiddos were there. I was able to go into a mindset that allowed me to focus on me for the session even though I was aware of my kiddos and the others around me. I think I was able to let go and relax knowing that all the people in the room had a mutual understanding of our situations and no judgement would be passed.
Another thing I felt I learned from Meaghan's class was giving gratitude to those who don't serve you and letting them go. This really resonated with me! And it is something that I think about daily when I am having a difficult time coping with people around me. This mantra reminds me to give gratitude to them instead of hate and then let them go and do not allow them to impact me in any type of negative way. It has really helped me let go of some negativity in my life and focus on the positive.
I also highly recommend Meaghan's class as at the end she designates time for Momma's to connect! She was really great at starting an open conversation with the mom's in attendance about varying topics. It felt good to chat with other like minded mom's in a safe environment. It was a great way to end the class. I also felt that my whole body was being served; my mind, body and soul. It truly was a beautiful experience.
