ABC, Easy as 123 - Educational Books with Usborne Books

Are your kid's going to be starting school in September?

Looking for some educational fun this summer?

Want to test your kiddo's knowledge?

Usborne books has you covered! I've teamed up with Alice to share some of our favourite educational books. We've chosen 4 different styles of books to show you the diversity of learning opportunities that Usborne has to offer.

We love this book because it is bright, sturdy and great for introducing the concept of counting and numbers. The photos in this book are very engaging and I think appeal to a lot of children's interests. There are so many different conversations that happen when we open this book and I really enjoy chatting with Lily about whatever she feels like that day. Whether it is counting, the animals in the photos, or the colours we see on the pages there is a lot of learning opportunities.

This book is from the lift the flap very first book of questions and answers. So if poop isn't the topic you're looking for don't worry they have others; what is sleep? what is snow? and more! This book came in extremely handy while we've been potty training Lily. We've found a lot of her anxiety is around not wanting to poop on the toilet. This books been helpful in explaining to Lily what poop is in a child friendly way. I also like that it is small so we can actually read it while she is on the toilet as a distraction and to make it fun.

This book is guaranteed to keep your children engage throughout the entire story. It is catchy and rhymes so I find that Lily enjoys listening to the story. It would be great for children starting to learn to read. At the end of the book there are also some phonics tips for parents which I thought were really helpful! Great ideas to keep in your mind while teaching your child to read.

We talked about this book in our Baby Approved Board Books Blog last week. With regards to it being educational we love this book because it grows with your child. Mason can enjoy looking at the photos and playing with the book right now (he is 9 months old). However, Lily enjoys the look and find aspect of the book. As she gets older it is a great option for an early reader as it has repetitive text and is great practice for word recognition. There are also photos in the back to find and count which helps the book grow with your child & take it past the text of the story.
