It isn't often that Chris and I treat ourselves to a fancy dinner. One because Chris is a great cook and we can make it way cheaper at home and two because it isn't easy leaving the kids behind to go out to a fancy place. But when we do, we like to do it up nice, get dolled up and really enjoy ourselves. Celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary seemed to be the perfect reason to have a fancy date night out.
Getting ready for date night is probably what stresses me out the most. It isn't leaving the kids behind for a few hours, or finding the perfect outfit to wear that bothers me. It's usually doing my hair and makeup that stresses me out. Mostly because I don't feel that I have enough time in the day to do it. But thankfully I have found a product that has helped getting ready for date night or just going out of the house to the grocery store a lot easier! I know no makeup artist but when I use my Maskara Beauty Makeup I sure feel like one. It's like paint by numbers for your face that's how easy it is! I can get ready in under 10 minutes for a fancy date night and feel amazing! If I am just throwing on makeup to go out to the grocery store it takes me about 5 minutes to get my face ready. Trust me when I say you have to check out this new line of makeup - its affordable, compact and makes mom life way easier! (see below for more information on Maskara Beauty and how to contact Kristi)
Once we were all dolled up we dropped the kiddos off at my parents and headed to
. What I loved about this restaurant is the atmosphere. There is a beautiful view looking onto the Lakeshore in Burlington and the restaurant was beautiful as well. The service was impeccable. From the moment we walked inside we were greeting with smiles and friendly service. Our waiter even treated us to two glasses of sparkling champagne so we could toast to our anniversary and surprised us with desert at the end of our meal. Two pleasant surprises that helped make our night extra special. But what I really loved about this date night is the conversation that Chris and I had together. It was a quiet restaurant and it felt a bit more private than your typical restaurant. It was easy to have a nice conversation without feeling you were yelling over other noises or other people were listening in.
Unfortunately we weren't able to continue our date night outdoors as it was raining. However, if you were wanting to and the weather was nice there is lots to check out around the restaurant. You could check out some of the cute little shops, walk along the lakeshore and take in the view or grab another treat at Sunshine Donuts across the street! Lots of ways to continue your date night outside of the restaurant.
The whole point of this blog though was for me to encourage you to treat your relationship to something you normally wouldn't. Don't second guess yourself and splurge a bit on each other. You won't regret the memories you and your spouse will create and the new spark that will be ignited in your relationship. But if you're having a really hard time pushing yourself to splurge the next time someone asks you what you or your husband want for your birthday, anniversary etc. tell them you want a gift card to a fancy restaurant. Chris and I received a few
for our wedding and that is the reason we've been able to check out
and
. So next time your stumped on what to get each other, treat yourselves to a fancy dinner out.
Maskcara Beauty is more than just makeup. It's a chance for women to simplify their routines and give themselves a little attention while saving both time and money. Makeup artist and Maskcara creator, Cara Brook Killpack, wanted to give women a product that would help them feel beautiful, inside and out. Using our IIID foundation, you're able to quickly highlight and contour (we call it HACing) your face for a natural, gorgeous look. Use the highlight shade to brighten and the contour shade to chisel out those gorgeous features without multiple layers of makeup. All your makeup fits into one customized compact (we can colour match in person or using a good, natural light photo) and you only replace colours as you need to. No more digging around in your makeup bag for multiple products or throwing away half used compacts because you only liked a few of the colours. Our Lip & Cheek colours are perfect for adding a kiss of colour to the face, our illuminators add a youthful glow and with our literal rainbow of eyeshadow shades there is sure to be one or two (or three or four) that you'll fall in love with! This high-quality makeup is made in the USA, cruelty-free, gluten-free, paraben-free and meets European cosmetic standards. Sephora, Urban Outfitters and Free People all wanted our products in their stores but Cara wanted to make sure that our clients got the personalized attention that they deserved so she created the Artist program.
I personally began using the makeup nearly 18 months ago, after tirelessly searching for a foundation that gave me great coverage and flawless skin, while still looking natural and healthy and not caked on. I used to import my Maskcara up from the States using my mom's US P.O. Box and then had her ship it across the country to me - that's how much I loved it! I actually have an emotional connection to this makeup because it was the first product I've ever used where I truly feel like I look beautiful and but still look like myself (just an upgraded version).
When Maskcara finally launched in Canada this March (2019) I jumped at the opportunity to become an Independent Artist because I was already telling everyone I knew about these products. The best part of my job is when I do a makeover on a client and they see themselves in the mirror. I love the look on their face when they see how easy it is and how beautiful they feel. I truly believe that makeup isn't what makes someone beautiful, but it enhances the beauty that's already there and helps them to recognize it in themselves.
