Meet the Maker - Conifer Toys

These days I find the toy stores overwhelming. There are so many toys to choose from and sometimes I feel like our kids need EVERYTHING because come on it all looks fun and what kid doesn't love toys. But what I am realizing, it isn't about the amount of toys a child has its about the quality of toys and the opportunity that they provide for them to play freely and use their imagination. In my opinion wooden toys are some of the best and most high quality toys that you can find. And toy stores are not consumed with these types of toys. That's why I was so excited when I came across Conifer Toys on Instagram.

Conifer toys (from the beautiful British Columbia) was born out of a moment in history where everyone was shifted out of their daily routine and into a time centered around family activities. This gave Stefany and her family a chance to dream about the toys they always wanted when they were kids and how they could give their children toys that would last a lifetime. They coupled this would their love of architecture and puzzles and came up with the "Laguna House". Stefany and her husbands kids couldn't stop playing with it so they decided to offer it to the entire world. They hope to be able to share their passion for durable, nature and fun toys with everyone.

Today we are going to get to know Stefany some more and the story behind Conifer Toys! Make sure to read to the end to see my full review on the product we were gifted.

Do you have kids? We have three kids. 5 years old fraternal twins and an almost 2 years old What's one thing people probably don't know about you? I was born and raised in Quebec, therefore French is my first language. Are you a stay at home mom/dad? Sure am! And almost loving every second of it…almost!

What is your favourite thing to do for yourself? Drink a coffee that I don’t have to reheat 5 times before I get to enjoy it.

What is your favourite date night activity? We love going out for good food and walking around town.

What's one thing you couldn't live without? My husband and kids. They make everything better.

Who's your IG inspiration? Salt Water Schoolhouse!

What advice would you give your younger self You can handle more than you can ever imagine!

How did you choose the name for your business? We wanted something that was easy to say in English and in French and had to do with trees. We sat down and looked through an old book about Canadian Trees and that’s how we found Conifer

How do you balance having kids & running a business? I haven’t figured that one out. And might never. I think it’s all about adjusting to what’s happening in every season and to do what works for your family.

Where can people find your products? www.conifertoys.com Instagram : @conifertoys

What advice can you give someone looking to start up their own business? Be ready to work harder and longer than you’ve ever had before.

What sets your business apart from others alike? We create every dollhouse and clubhouse with aesthetics and designed in mind! We want to create a line of products that parents love displaying in their homes! Also we build our houses in mind that the kids will climb on them. They can withstand up to 300lbs! Safe for all the little climbers out there!

What is the most challenging part of running your business? Most challenging and most beautiful thing I would say is to have the kids with me all the time. Therefore, I sometimes can’t do it all when I want to do it. But including them in this adventure has been also pretty amazing!

What does a typical day look like for you? A whole lot of kids, snacks, emails, paperwork, kids and snacks!

This past week the Southland Stables that we were gifted from Conifer Toys has got so much love it's amazing! What I love most though is that my kids have been playing together at the same activity! And in our house that does not happen very often. Either they are fighting over one toy or they just aren't interested in the same activity. However, with the Southland Stables the great thing is that it's the perfect size for them to play together, but not be too close that they feel like they are invading each other's space. I've loved witnessing their laughter together and seeing them use their imagination.

Another great quality of this stable is that it holds up to 300 lbs! With a son who LOVES to climb and destroy everything in his sight toys that are strong and durable are very important to us. So we put it to the test (See photo below) and asked Lily to sit on it to see just how sturdy it was. Let me tell you this thing is Mason proof when it comes to being destructed and my boy can destroy pretty much anything! LOL

We also love this stable because sure it is called Southland Stable and meant to be for horses and animals but I've seen our kids open up their imagination to make this structure into just about anything they can dream of. Whether its a fire station, a mall or a stable our kids imagination has blossomed before my eyes because of this beautiful toy created by Conifer Toys!

If you are looking for the perfect gift for a loved one or your child I highly recommend checking out Conifer Toys to see what they have to offer. This is an investment that you will not regret making because it is one of those toys that your children will play with for years to come.
