Meet Karen the maker behind Evanly Designs from Milton, Ontario. Karen makes Boo Boo Bags (which I LOVE!), Adult Hot/Cold Bags, Bandana Bibs and Reusable Breast Pads. Karen's Boo Boo Bags are designed to be used as a hot or cold bag for kids. They come in a variety of kid-friendly patterns and are the perfect size for your littles to hold in their hand. They can be used cold from the freezer for bumps & bruises, fever and ear aches. Or used warmed up in the microwave for tummy aches or to snuggle with on a cold night (bring on the fall weather!). Adult Hot/Cold bags can be used cold from the freezer or heated up in the microwave to help with all sorts of aches and pains such as menstrual cramps, back pain, arthritis etc. The breast/nursing pads are awesome for pregnant or breastfeeding moms to help keep bras and clothes dry by absorbing nipple leaks. They are soft, comfortable and washable/reusable.

Work hard, have a plan, use social media and keep at it!
What sets your business apart from others alike?
I use corn filler which retains the heat and cold longer than other filler options. Both my Boo Boo Bags and Adult Hot/Cold Bags have removable covers for easy cleaning. My Adult Hot/Cold Bags are sectioned to avoid all the filler going to one side or area of the bag. I have many years of sewing experience and I love to sew, all my products are sewn with love and I take pride in making good quality products. I am always sourcing new fabrics for variety and I take custom orders as well. My products come in a variety of colours, characters and patterns.

​​Coming from a Child Life Specialist perspective as soon as I heard about Evanly Design's Boo Boo Bags I thought the concept was GREAT! Helping children cope with varying aches and pains can be very difficult but having something like a kid-friendly Boo Boo bag can help kids cope with varying aches and pains. I loved the variety of patterns that I had to choose from as Karen provided a lot of options that would appeal to any kids interest. We choose the Olaf pattern, one because Lily loves Olaf and the movie Frozen and two because I thought there was a lot of opportunity for me to use Frozen references when talking to her about her pain.
From a mom perspective there is nothing worse than seeing her kid hurt. Usually a quick kiss better from momma can fix most things however sometimes you need to bring in reinforcements. The Boo Boo Bag is the perfect companion to any moms kisses. Here is why I loved the Boo Boo Bag:
1. SIZE! Its the perfect size for Lily to hold on her own. If your 2 year old is anything like mine, they thrive for independence. Lily wants to do everything on her own. So I LOVE that with the Boo Boo bag if she wants to hold it on her own it is the perfect size to promote independence.
2. QUALITY - The quality of work is beautiful. The workmanship is beautiful, the fabric is soft and there is a variety of patterns that you can choose from.
3. They are fun! We did have the opportunity to use the Boo Boo Bag when Lily bumped her knee and it provided a great opportunity to for me to use some distraction and make the situation lighthearted. We started talking about Olaf and the funny parts in the Frozen movie. We made jokes about how Olaf was going to freeze her pain away and eventually the smiles and giggles broke through.
