Second Trimester Recap

Updated: Jan 17, 2019

The second trimester has FLOWN by! I think that is largely due to my little sassy almost 2 year old keeping me super busy and distracted. While some days I am exhausted to the MAX I am forever grateful for the best distraction ever! Lily keeps me moving when I feel like I can't move no more and helps me keep my mind off of the hard parts of pregnancy. But sometimes, I have to STOP, SLOW DOWN and REMEMBER that I am pregnant and to enjoy it. There are days where I forget I am pregnant, and then I look down and my growing bump and think how the heck did I forget I was pregnant. I need to remind myself to take the time to enjoy the amazing things of pregnancy. I also need to remind myself that it is okay to slow down! I don't have to clean the house every day, the dishes can wait and it's okay to have a lazy day on the couch with my girl watching Disney Movies!

Here are some special moments from my second trimester:

1. IT'S A BOY! We were so excited to attend our 18 week ultrasound as a family (Chris and Lily were right there with me) to find out that we were having a BABY BOY! My heart skipped a beat when I found out because I was so overjoyed. It was also a special moment having Lily there with us to find out she was going to have a baby brother (even though she doesn't really understand!). But on the drive on the way home reality and a bit of panic sunk in. My mind started racing (as it always does) and I started to worry "I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BOYS!". But then Chris looked at me as if he knew what I was thinking and said was nervous about having a boy too. I was SHOCKED seeing as he is a boy and all I would have thought he would be more comfortable. But, both of us are so comfortable parenting a little girl that we will now have to learn the ropes of parenting a boy. Needless to say we are both SUPER excited about all the new experiences of having a baby boy.

2. I felt our baby kick for the first time. I started to feel flutters around week 14 and they have only grown more and more intense. I definitely felt movement earlier on this pregnancy. Our baby boy is WAY more active then Lily ever was this early on and I am enjoy the constant reminders that he is there.

3. Chris also felt our boy move around 22 weeks which was WAY earlier this time around. It took forever for Chris to be able to feel Lily kick and I used to get so disappointed cause I wanted him to experience it with me. Every night we try before we go to bed for Chris to feel the movement but Ms. Lily is very protective of her momma and doesn't want daddy touching my belly. She will pull my shirt down and tell daddy "no no no". I have tried to get Lily to feel the baby move around but she isn't really interested. Most nights she does kiss my belly good night and says "night baby". Which of course makes my heart melt into a tiny little pieces. I can't wait till I get to see her hold her baby brother for the first time.

One of the new things I splurged on this pregnancy was a Childhood Journal from Promptly Journals. If you haven't checked them out, you need to NOW! They are the best journal for documenting pregnancy and even better, they document right up to your child's 18th year all in ONE BOOK! No more, pregnancy book, baby book etc. Its the best place to keep all your information stored. Its cute, compact and prompts you with the perfect questions to document all life's most important events. It even leaves a spot to add photos and a bit of free journalling. They also have a travelling, childhood history & adoption and love story!
