I am really excited about this post because one of my favourite things to do is prepare for anything and everything that I can! With getting ready to move I am feeling that I am unorganized and not able to fully prepare for Mason's arrival like I want to. But thankfully, nothing has stopped me from being able to fully prep my hospital bag. I wish my husband shared in my excitement about packing a hospital bag for himself. In Chris' true fashion he is refusing to pack his bag until we have to leave for the hospital (as he did with Lily). However, I am trying to convince him to at least prepare a funny L&D shirt. When we went to the hospital to have Lily Chris knew right away what shirt he was going to wear. When Chris and I first met I bought him this silly "Bearly Legal" t-shirt as a joke because I am older than him (only by 1 year!) but it was something we always joked about. Here's to hoping that he comes up with a clever L&D shirt for Mason's arrival.
While I am not pro - and I am sure I overpacked and forgot a few things this time around I wanted to share with all of you what I packed in my bag the 2nd time around. Some things I figured I would save you from seeing in photograph's are my hospital granny panties and pads even though every mom knows they are a hospital MUST HAVE! But I will link all the items that I can so you can see where I purchased them from and list any others not pictured #happyshopping
The Bag!
Come on moms, I know you are all with me when I say that the bag is sometimes more important than what is inside the bag! I debated on packing a bag for me and then using Mason's @fosterhood.co diaper bag for his stuff but wanted to minimalize the amount of stuff we had to carry so chose to go with my FAVOURITE bag the Kate Spade Bag. I couldn't find the black version on their website but linked the same bag in a different pattern. This bag is perfect for a hospital bag, travelling, road trips etc. It is wipeable which I love when having kids and having to go to the hospital -- easy to clean all the germs away. It is HUGE and there is plenty of room to hold both mine and Mason's stuff which is why I chose to use this bag. And come on how stinking cute is it!
Let's start off with what I packed for me:
Thyme Maternity Pajama Pants -- These are probably the comfiest pants/pajamas I have ever owned. They are the softest material and are flattering. They have the high wasted panel that you can use during and post-pregnancy and I plan on just rolling down the panel once my belly is gone to enjoy continued comfort! I purchased them in both navy & grey.
Thyme Maternity Robe -- I love the length, style and quality of this robe. It is super soft and will be perfect for lounging around the house! I purchased it in Navy.
Thyme Maternity Nursing Cami's -- I personally don't think you can ever have to many of these! I have been wearing them during my pregnancy and plan to continue to wear them while hopefully breastfeeding Mason. They are a great fit and I find help hold everything into place post-pregnancy.
Thyme Maternity Underwear -- One of the things that I didn't pack properly was underwear for myself after I had Lily. I should have packed maternity underwear because they are super comfortable and the best fit for post-delivery. The ones I had packed for after I had Lily barely fit (I think I was a bit to optimistic how much my belly would shrink) and had no stretch to them so I was super uncomfortable. This time around I am packing some of my favourite Thyme Maternity Underwear
Thyme Maternity Nursing Bras -- Another thing I did not pack when I had Lily was nursing bras. Thankfully my mom ran out and got me some because they came in so handy while we tried to master the art of breastfeeding. I am the type of girl that always has a bra on and felt super uncomfortable if people were coming to visit and I didn't have a bra on so nursing bras are a must for me! This time around I packed 2 different nursing bras I purchased; the Contour Balconnet Underwire Nursing Bra and the Full Coverage Nursing Bra
Going home outfit -- I am packing my @smashtess black romper & a cute cardigan to come home in. It is the comfiest piece of clothing I have owned and is super stylish!
Makeup and Toiletries -- When I say makeup I mean my Benefit Brow Pencil and Filler because I am obsessed with my eyebrows looking on point and some moisturizer. Nothing crazy as I am not one to wear a ton of makeup and know I won't have much ambition to apply it. I also packed some hair elastics to rock the ever famous mom bun, hairbrush, tooth brush/paste, pads etc.
Hair Elastics, makeup, hair brush, tooth brush/paste
Book (that I will probably never look at but doesn't hurt to have)
Promptly Childhood History Journal so I can fill out our L&D story in the moment. I have really enjoyed filling out this journal throughout my pregnancy and figured it would be the perfect distraction while in labour. I always found writing therapeutic so we will see if it helps!
Phone, camera and chargers
What I packed for Mason:
Coming Home Outfit - this was probably the toughest item to choose and pack! I put a lot of thought into what I wanted Mason to come home in but thankfully my Mom came to the rescue on this one! While we were at the @themodernmomshow she snagged this AMAZING find from @benandlilys and I am so happy she did. Come on how perfect is this for Mason now that he is joining the @camara.crew family! I love the custom onesie, striped pants and black newborn hat. It was as if it was made for us. The quality is great and it totally fits in with our monochrome style for Mason.
Ryan & Rose 2-in-1 PatPat Pacifier and Teether - I first heard about these pacifiers while following @overcollective. I did some research and am hoping that this works for us. Lily would never take a soother which now I am thankful for as its one less thing we have to wean her off of. And I will not force one on Mason but thought that since this doubles as a soother & teether we will give it a try! I also love the look of the soother.
Munching Monster Chewlery Pacifier Clip -- I purchased this pacifier clip mostly because it had a motorcycle charm on it and was monochrome so how could I not! But it also matched our @ryanandrose 2-in-1 PatPat Pacifier and Teether perfectly! I love the quality of @munchingmonsterchewlery products! I will be featuring this amazing company from my hometown on my blog soon! So stay tuned to see some more amazing products from them.
@theovercompany Swaddle Blankets -- I purchased 2 Over Company Swaddles and I also got one in my Luxe Bag at the last Christmas Modern Mom Show. I am bringing my Reversible Swaddle - Lincoln in size small and my Reversible Swaddle - Noah in size large. Trust me when I say once you buy one of these swaddles you will never want to use anything else! Not only are they great for swaddling but also as a carseat blanket, blanket on floor, burp blanket! They are multi-use and come in the most adorable patterns and luscious fabrics!
Copper and Pearl 5-in-1 Multi Use Cover -- I love this high quality stretchy Multi Use Cover - in Classic. It goes perfect with my love for monochrome and will make for a great car seat cover for Mason!
Mason's Newborn Hat -- Again my amazing parents found this adorable newborn hat when they went to the Baby Bump and Toddler Show in Hamilton. They picked up this great find from @ThimbleTheory. Not only did it have Mason's name on it but it also has Elephants on it which Chris and I both love!
On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman Book -- I bought this book before Lily was born and it was the first book that I ever read to her. I remember I almost forgot to read it to her on the night she was born in all the chaos but it is now a tradition that I can carry through with Mason.
Some other items I packed were baby wipes (oddly enough the hospital didn't provide wipes last time but did provide diapers), socks, scratch mittens and extra onesies & pants.
I am sure as I am walking out the door I will still be adding things to my bag that I probably will never use but that is just part of the adventure! I would love to hear your must have's in your hospital bag for you and your baby! Where did you find some of your favourite purchases? What are somethings that you forgot and wished you had packed?
XO Cassie
