One thing that I really wanted to focus on this year was making sure that Chris and I spent quality time together away from the kiddos. I know it isn't easy for parents to get away for a variety of reasons;
- fearful of leaving kids - exhausted - no one to watch your kids
And the list goes on. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies when it comes to focusing on our relationships and I have to admit I fall into that category. I often would rather stay home then go out. But I always feel so refreshed and reconnected with Chris after we have some time just us.
So, I decided in order to help motivate me to focus on our relationship and to help you feel inspired too I am going to start a date night series on my blog.
First up is kind of a bigger and more expensive date night but hey we all deserve to treat ourselves! The way I see it we are constantly spending money on taking our kids out to special events and programs that we should be doing it for ourselves every now and then. A great way to encourage that is to buy tickets for each other for a special event as a gift for a birthday, anniversary, Christmas etc. A lot of times I find Chris and I don't need or really want anything for special occasions but what we really need is time together!
For Christmas Chris got him and I tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil here in Hamilton. I've been dying to go and see this performance and was so excited when I got tickets for Christmas. I have to say if you've never been to Cirque du Soleil before you HAVE to go! It is highly worth it. If you can I recommend getting floor seats at list once! Chris and I sat front row and it was amazing to see the magic up close. The whole time we both watched in awe of everything. Numerous times we looked at each other and said "was that even real" or "how the hell do they do that?" The show is a perfect mixture of funny, emotional and entertaining. The singing and live music is incredible! It will be a date night that you will be talking about for days!
And if push comes to shove and you can't find a babysitter - take your kiddo with you. Lots of people brought their children to the show and I have to say I had no idea there were kids there. If it means getting out with you husband and doing something different, then do it!
