Once upon a time there was a girl, Tinderella, who was single for quite some time after a long term relationship and had no idea how to get back into the dating game. Her best friend introduced her to Tinder, an online dating app. Tinderella was so uncomfortable with the idea of dating people online and not into the idea at all. Tinderella's friend made the account on her phone, set everything up and started showing her how fun it could be. Little did she know, she was going to meet her Prince Charming who she would end up marrying.
If you haven't guessed yet, Tinderella is me! I was at a point in my life where I had graduated University, didn't have a large group of friends and had no idea how to put myself out there to meet someone new. Something about meeting someone online made me embarrassed and slightly scared me after all those horror stories you hear about.
What I can say is that I met Chris when I was least expecting to meet someone. I wasn't looking for a relationship or really anything at the time but I think that is what put me in the right head space to truly find my soul mate.
Right from the start Chris and I started up conversations easily. It wasn't long before we set up a date to meet each other. I like to tease him as our first date was supposed to be us going out however, he wasn't able to get access to a car for the entire evening so we went back to his house, got McDonalds, watched movies and chatted. I joke that he just wanted to keep me in his house to himself and that was the plan the entire time. And yes, our first date was McDonald's another reason why I fell in love with him.
Chris and I hung out for awhile before we started to date. We hung out whenever we could and went on so many adventures together. Our favourite thing to do together was to explore the waterfalls in and around Hamilton. Which is why, once I gave Chris the green light for us to place a label on our relationship he surprised me at what is now my favourite waterfall - Albion Falls. Chris took me to see the waterfall and once we had climbed up to the top he asked me to be his girlfriend. It was so sweet - I never had anyone do something so special for me. Then we went back to the car and she surprised me with the most beautiful bouquet of flowers.
In 2015 I was in my best friends wedding and of course Chris attended as my guest. When it came time for the garter toss Chris got right out there (which I never expected he would!) and I am not kidding you pushed and dove in front of everyone so he could be the one to catch it. I knew in that moment that was a man who was going to fight for me and to this day he still does. What I didn't know was that he would end up proposing some day. We always talked about us being together forever, starting a family and what kind of rings I would like. We even went and looked at rings once, but for some reason I didn't think I would be lucky enough to have this man in my life forever. It all seemed to good to be true but I am so glad that was wrong!
In June of 2016 Chris proposed to me while we were on our Babymoon Trip while I was pregnant with Lily. To hear our proposal story check out my blog post here. I had no idea he was going to propose and it was such a magical moment! We got married on June 13 2017 in Jamaica. We both knew from the start we wanted a small destination wedding and we have zero regrets doing it this way. We had a vacation, wedding and honeymoon all in one. Our baby girl Lily was our flower girl and our friends and family surrounded us.
Today marks 2 years of marriage for Chris and I. But in the last 5 years of us being together we have gone through so much and I am so grateful that I have such an amazing man by my side to experience it all. I can't wait to see what adventures the next year of marriage brings us.
